Single-player appears to feature many different modes at first, but its all either focused on grinding or just plain uninspired. The game's single-player offering suffered similar problems. While the developers put a lot of effort and faith in the single-player aspects, the focus on transitioning to an eSports market lead to a rather barebones multiplayer, which only consisted of finding 1v1 matches ad nauseum. The online never really went beyond that idea, leaving little reason to use it outside of playing friends. Even in terms of fighting game stories, this one earns a place outside of the pack for how badly it was handled and how little sense it makes most of the time. Many felt that the game's story mode was a confusing mess, as it switched between the main story and personal character timelines with no indication as to the order of events. Though the gameplay itself has often been praised, that wasn't enough to save it from the lack of content and lackluster story presented within. Once fans saw the high cost of the DLC passes, many left to play games that wouldn't bankrupt them. ![]() It was hands down one of the biggest causes for the game's failure. ![]() High prices would continue to be a problem for the game, with future DLC passes having prices like $79.99 or $89.99. Not only was the first season of DLC ludicrously overpriced, but all the new content wasn't even included. Koei couldn't ignore that part of the series, and it only got worse when DLC prices started making the rounds. New characters came with the DLC, but most of the offerings were cosmetic items such as bathing suits and summer dresses. ![]() Despite Koei Tecmo's claims it wanted to take the franchise in a new direction and pivot into the eSports scene, DoA 6's DLC showed that it couldn't move away from its roots.
